Spirit of Robin

“ I’m the green man in my folklore form of Robin Hood, Champion of the forest.
In rural tradition, I’m cast each spring as the King of the May, battling the forces of evil winter to win the hand of my ‘May Queen’ Marian. "

"Writers and philosophers have long associated my mysterious green hooded figure with that of Robin. Am I that woodland spirit, Lord of the Greenwood, the inspiration or embodiment of Robin?. Decide for yourself….

I'm spiritually entwined with the landscape just like Robin's name which is rooted in Sherwood, with many natural features called after me, like the ‘Robin Hood’s Chair’ rock formation and Robin Hood’s stable, a cave at Papplewick.

As a natural protector, my mission has been championed by rebellious and crusading spirits like Robin and our legacy has carried down the ages in many of Sherwood’s other legendary characters.

As the green man or the forest spirit of Robin, I’m your natural guide to Sherwood's ‘Spirit of Robin’ through the ages.
